Maintenance & Service

Keeping a fitted cover working season after season

Ongoing care for mesh and solid safety covers already fitted by Harborlane Pools across North York, Ontario and area.

Audience

Who this maintenance work suits

Owners who already have a mesh or solid safety cover fitted, whether by Harborlane Pools or a previous installer, and want the anchor hardware and tensioning checked before the cover goes back on for the season. We also take on inspection calls for covers showing wear at the anchor points. A service visit is also the right starting point if a cover no longer sits flush, or if a spring feels loose underfoot near the edge of the deck.

This is not a general pool-cleaning or chemical-balancing service — it covers the cover and its hardware only. If your pool also needs water-chemistry service, we can point you toward that separately, but our own visit stays focused on the cover, its anchors and the deck surface immediately around them. A good rule of thumb: if the issue involves the water itself, it is outside our scope; if it involves the cover, the straps, the springs or the anchors, it is exactly what we check. Most service calls take less than an hour once the assessment measurement is done, so a visit rarely disrupts the rest of your day.

Pricing

What a service visit includes

A service visit begins with the same $160 CAD assessment fee as a first-time fitting, since checking anchor condition and cover fit requires the same measurement work. If re-tensioning or anchor hardware replacement is needed, that is quoted separately once the assessment is complete, consistent with the reinforced-anchor pricing on our services page. Covers originally fitted by another installer are welcome — we simply measure the existing anchor layout before recommending any hardware changes. Where a cover is beyond reasonable repair, we say so directly rather than patching hardware that will likely fail again the following season. In that case, the service visit converts into a standard replacement quote rather than a second billable assessment.

Glossary

Terms used in a service visit

These are the words we use most during a phone call or a written assessment, so that what gets written down matches what you hear on site.

Anchor point
A fastening set into the deck that the cover anchors connect to.
Re-tensioning
Adjusting a solid cover straps so it sits taut across the pool without sagging.
Spring tension
How firmly a mesh cover anchor springs hold the cover edge in place.
Deck clearance
The space around the pool coping that a cover needs to seat correctly.
Edge seam
The stitched border of a mesh cover where most wear shows up first.
Fastening key
The tool used to open and close an anchor during removal or refitting.

Materials

What a service visit checks

A thorough inspection touches every point where the cover meets the deck, not just the sections that look worn from above. Items below are checked on every service call regardless of how the cover looks on arrival, because wear at an anchor point is not always visible until the cover is unclipped.

  • Anchor hardware for corrosion or looseness
  • Mesh weave for tears near the edge seam
  • Solid-cover strap tension across the span
  • Spring condition on mesh cover anchors
  • Deck surface around each anchor point
  • Storage condition for off-season covers
